About Us

We work with churches and organisations to help strengthen local communities, so that people can flourish and enjoy life in all its fullness.

Together Middlesbrough & Cleveland was launched by the Archbishop of York in December 2012, as the local expression of the Church Urban Fund (CUF) in the Diocese of York.

The work of TM&C developed from the concern of local churches for the communities that they serve, recognising the challenges that many people face. A conference called Bridging the Gap was organised in February 2012 to bring people together to share their ideas to work together around issues of poverty and social justice.

Our work has continued to be shaped by local people, churches and communities. Our staff work across Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland and are supported by a board of trustees from a variety of church traditions.
